This week I have visited a few businesses in Tauranga. One really epitomised for me the changing face of the city. ‘Hot Milk’ is a high-end lingerie maker but with a twist. As the name suggests its target market is pregnant women and I think the general idea is along the lines that having children doesn’t need to turn you into a untrendy granny, nor someone who wears uncomfortable underwear.
In only about 5 years Ange and Lisa have turned the business from a basement operation into a several million dollar one that has won awards, and now sends nearly all of its garments overseas. Australia and the UK are well established overseas markets where the lingerie is in boutique stores as well as bigger ones. More recently Ange, Lisa and their team have moved into the USA and Europe and so far things are progressing very nicely.
